People use “link velocity” to describe the rate at which new links or referring domains appear. A newsworthy site can gain many links quickly; a quiet site may accumulate them slowly.
Why fixed daily limits are misleading
There is no universal number of links per day that is automatically safe or unsafe. The cause of the links matters: editorial attention, a product launch, syndication, spam and automated submissions can produce very different patterns.

- Unique referring domains, not just link count.
- Source relevance and quality.
- Anchor-text changes.
