Start with the source URL
Confirm that the linking page still loads and the backlink is still present. Record the exact source URL rather than relying only on a campaign dashboard.
Use your backlink monitor
A monitoring tool can verify whether the page and link remain live over time. This does not prove Google has indexed the page, but it prevents you from investigating URLs that no longer contain the link.
Search operators are only clues
Searching an exact URL or distinctive text can sometimes surface a page, but absence from those results is not definitive proof that the page is absent from every index system.
Do not confuse “submitted” with “indexed”
Automation software may report a successful submission when it has created a page or sent a form. That event is separate from discovery, crawling, indexing and any eventual ranking impact.
